Hello out there, this is your old friend Buff Gumby comin' atcha via his Newly Created BLOG. First off I would like to apologize to my Millions and Millions of Fans and Personal Friends out there for The Buff Ones inactivity low these many months. Buff Gumby had to get away for a while and take a sabbatical this summer to collect his thoughts and recharge his batteries, so he could return BIGGER and BUFFER than ever before. Buff Gumby went to convalesce upon his personal island located in NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS. Just goofin' with you, but I'm still not telling you the location.
ANYWAY...while Buff Gumby was enjoying his down time with some of his closest and most personal friends. Among them, Gilly the Gill Man from The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Bruce the Shark from JAWS, All of The Humanoids From The Deep, and their families, and many more too numerous to mention. Then, out of the deep blue sea, a controversy suddenly arose. Now since Buff Gumby had dropped off of The Grid he is speaking on this controversy a bit late and sincerely hopes the whole thing has blown over by the time you, his personal friends and fans are reading this BLOG. Still, it is worthy of mention since when the controversy hit, Buff Gumby was partying hard with one of his closest and most personal friends, THE ONE AND ONLY, TRUE...Ariel The Little Mermaid. This controversy put a bit of a damper on the remainder of the festivities throughout the summer for poor Ariel, so Buff Gumby promised when he returned to civilization he would convey Ariel's thoughts upon this subject. The short version, Ariel could give a FLYING FISH as to how Disney or anyone else depicts her. If Disney wants to make her a Cartoon with Red Hair and Clam Shells over her boobies, so be it. If Disney wants to depict her within a live action film with a woman of color, she is fine with that as well. BECAUSE PEOPLE...SHE GOT PAID!!! So whether a Caucasian skinned Red Head, or a person of color, neither are an accurate depiction of the TRUE Ariel. Ariel lives deep within the Briny Blue: she has no need for clothing of any kind, most of all a Clam Shell Bra. Her skin is covered in small blue/green scales which look like little sequins and glisten beautifully within the sunlight. Her hair is a beautiful shade of seaweed green. Her eyes are charcoal black and her teeth are very sharp which helps her break through bone, shells, and crustaceans. She truly is a marvelous and a most beautiful sight to behold within her actual form. It hurts her deeply to think that all of this controversy stems from a few IGNORANT INDIVIDUALS who cannot embrace change. Honestly Buff Gumby is a purist. Buff Gumby grew up on the Animated 1989 Disney Classic which depicts Ariel as a Caucasian with Fire Red Hair. Buff Gumby was surprised when he finally met the REAL Ariel, though he probably shouldn't have been since there are talks of George Clooney playing Buff Gumby in The Buff Gumby Movie. Just kidding, just kidding, George Clooney couldn't even rate a sniff of Buff Gumby's Jock Strap...look what he did to the Batman Franchise, ANYWAY...though Buff Gumby is now close personal friends with the REAL Little Mermaid, Ariel and prefers the 1989 Disney Animated Classic which is near and dear to his heart and can never be replaced even if the live action version becomes a superior instant classic. Buff Gumby is still willing to give the new version a chance. It's entertainment people, nothing more. It is not something to get twisted about. If you are from a generation that grew up on the 1989 Animated Classic, so be it. If you are of a generation that will go on to prefer the Live Action Version, that is fine as well. People are individuals, entitled to their likes and dislikes, their own opinions. It does not have to be about racism or hate. The comments do not have to be angry or venomous. The solution is simple, if you do not like something just don't support it. You have a problem with Disney casting Ariel as a person of color, then don't go see it. You do not have to hate on Disney. You do not have to hate on any race whether it be Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, African American or Gumbys. You do not have to hate upon the actress cast within the role either. Just don't use your hard earned dollars to go see the film. Controversy equates to profit, as any marketing executive will tell you. This film is going to gross a fortune for 2 simple reasons. 1. People will go and support it and 2. people will go just to hate on it. Again regardless of the version you love or end up loving after the new film is released, it really doesn't matter, because Buff Gumby is speaking to you now, that neither version comes close to depicting the look and life of Ariel, The TRUE Little Mermaid. So, there you have Buff Gumby's and Ariel's take upon the whole Little Mermaid Controversy. Until next time...This is Buff Gumby saying I'm Out...RRRRIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTTT!!!
